Walk leader : Martin B.
Walk details : This walk is about 6 miles long. There are some steady inclines, and one flight of about 15 uneven steps. From Stalybridge, we will walk up through Gorse Hall country park: Gorse Hall   then down to Matley and on to Harrop Edge where there are fantastic views west towards Manchester City Centre, and south and east into Derbyshire (weather permitting!) where we can have our lunch and enjoy the views.
We will then return down to Matley, then through Waldorf Playing Fields, Early Bank Wood and Cheetham Park: Cheetham Park  (where there is often an Ice Cream van!) and back to Stalybridge station, finishing up in the famous Stalybridge Buffet Bar which sells hot drinks as well as some excellent real ales and other drinks: Stalybridge Buffet Bar
Risk assessment : A risk assessment was carried out on 04/11/2022.  A summary of identified risks is below: –

Hazards: We will cross a golf course, but between the greens and tees, not on the fairway.
Livestock: One footpath passes through a field containing cows, anyone with dogs will need to take care.
