Description
The walk is approximately 7.2 miles (can be shorter depending on conditions) and mainly level. There is a short pull up into Billinge where we can have lunch.
A pub and an ice cream shop are available for refreshments and a park to sit in. We return via the Hill which provides spectacular views in all directions, leading us back through an old wood and into the water park.
You should bring plenty of fluid.
Start Point and Time
Meet 12.00 noon at Orrell Water Park car park.
Directions to Start
Exit M6 at J26 for the A577, Wigan Orrell. At the T junction lights, turn left for Orrell.
After approximately 0.3 mile, turn left at the lights onto the B5206, Moor Road.
Carry straight on for 0.5 mile, over the motorway and a traffic island, to the next set of traffic lights.
Turn left into Church Street for 0.3 mile.
After the train station, the road bends to the left. There is a right hand junction; you will see the Water Park sign ahead of you.
Turn right at this junction onto Lodge road.
The car park entrance is a short way down on your left. Parking is free.
