- Walk details :
- This is a 6.4 mile walk from The Ridgeway to Manley Common, a section of the Sandstone Trail, just west of Frodsham. The walk is along well used paths and country lanes. The paths are rough and uneven in places and for this reason the walk is classed a being of moderate difficulty.
- The walk takes us from The Ridgeway through or skirting wooded hills to the west of Frodsham. The route gives views out towards Queensferry and the Clwydian Hills and also across to Liverpool.

- Risk assessment :
- A Risk Assessment was carried out on 11 April 2022. A summary of identified risks is below:-
- Terrain – the forest paths are rough and uneven in places, with some areas of erosion caused by walkers and bikers. It may be muddy. There are a couple of steep descents, one via uneven steps. Walking boots are recommended for this walk.
- Roads – there is some road walking, along country lanes, but there are pavements and grass verges except for one short stretch. Walkers are asked to walk on the right, facing the oncoming traffic where possible.
- Protection – we are moving into the seasons when sun screen and insect repellent is recommended.
- Covid-19 – Government advice is now advisory only. Walkers need to decide for themselves what precautions to take.
- The walk leaders will remind walkers of any additional risk which may be encountered at appropriate points on the walk.
- Start time and meeting point :
- The Ridgeway at 12:30. Nearest postcode is for The Ridgeway County Holiday Park WA6 6XQ.
- Directions to the start :
- Take the M56 travelling towards Chester. Leave the motorway at junction 12 and at the first roundabout take the 1st exit towards Frodsham. You will come to a set of traffic lights at a T junction. Here, turn right onto the A56 which takes you into Frodsham. Continue along the A56 through the centre of Frodsham. After leaving Frodsham, continue for half a mile until you come to a fork in the road. Turn left at this fork which is signposted Alvanley, Manley. Drive along this country lane until you take a left turning onto The Ridgeway. After about half a mile you will see parked cars on the right-hand side of the road. Park here. This is where the walk starts.
