Castleton and Mam Tor – 30 June 2024

Out on Sunday’s last walk from Castleton, Derbyshire was back in 2016, when our leader was Paul Brown. So we were overdue a return visit. Our leaders today were Cliff and Colin and the group consisted of ten walkers in total. We headed up the rocky path of Cave Dale beneath the 11th century Peveril Castle before ascending of Mam Tor, the site of an Iron Age settlement. It was unseasonably chilly on the top so after a traditional photo at the Trig Point we headed back to Castleton for tea and cake.
