SUPERSEDED BY NATIONAL RESTRICTIONS from 05 NOVEMBER 2020 (See November Update)

TIER 3 CONDITIONS RE-APPLIED from 02 DECEMBER 2020

Hello Everyone

You will no doubt have heard that with effect from last Friday Greater Manchester (GM) is subject to Local COVID alert level: very high (known as “Tier 3”). Although group walks such as ours continue to be permitted as before, there are some new advisory restrictions on travel which do affect our walks.

You must not travel anywhere if you are displaying symptoms of the virus or you are self-isolating. In addition you are advised to reduce the number of journeys you make, and not to travel into or out of a Tier 3 area other than for work, education or caring responsibilities.

All of our current Walk Leaders are resident in GM. Therefore, they are advised only to lead walks within GM. Similarly, our walkers are mainly GM residents so are advised only to walk within GM.

Consequently, whilst Tier 3 measures continue to apply (for at least 28 days from 23 October 2020) we can arrange walks for Greater Manchester residents only. We are very sorry to exclude other members of our group, but Out on Sunday must follow official advice which is given in the interests of managing the risk of transmission.

This restriction arises because our leaders are GM residents. If a leader resident in say Lancs offered a walk in that area, then we would be pleased to arrange the walk: in this case it would be just for Lancs residents only. The same would apply to Tier 1 and Tier 2. If there isn’t an official OoS walk available, you may still meet for a walk in the countryside with friends who are not part of your household or support bubble. But your group must be 6 or fewer: any greater and you risk a fine!

These rules and restrictions are annoying and inconvenient but we must hope that by observing them we are helping to overcome the virus and secure the safety of us all.

For the sake of your physical and mental health Keep Walking
