Delamere Forest

(please note that this walk replaces the Marsden walk scheduled for 17 Sep  )

Date 17 September 2017

Leader Geraint W

Description

An easy circular walk of some 11Km (a mere 6.8miles) along forest tracks and paths.  No real inclines or descents mean that this should be suitable for everyone. The walk takes us through the Delamere Forest along forest tracks with a couple of sections of footpath, a pleasant woodland and waterfront walk through beautiful early autumn scenery. Although the terrain is easy there are some very muddy sections so boots really are essential. No food and drink stops along the way so bring butties, brew and water We’ll stop for a lunch break somewhere along the way. Café and toilets near the start and at the end of the walk only.

Start Point and Time

Meet at 12:30 at Delamere train station –  There is parking at Delamere Forest Visitors Centre some 700m away but it is expensive – 3Hrs £4.00 for 3hrs or £6.00 all day. Please note that the Pay and Display machine accepts COINS ONLY.   I suggest either car sharing or travel by train to Delamere Station. Alternatively, park at Cuddington train station and catch the 12:26 train to Delamere or pool cars to cut parking costs. Please allow plenty of time if you intend to do this £2.60 return / £1.70 with railcard . It’s likely that the station is unstaffed at weekends.
