Description
This is a 7 mile circular walk around Dovestone Reservoir in Saddleworth on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
There is a short, gradual climb near the start of the walk in order to reach the reservoir, but otherwise it is a flat, easy walk, for which good walking shoes should be ok, although one section of the path is a little rocky.
There will be a stop for lunch at the half way point. In addition, there is a cafe selling drinks/snacks (including delicious bacon butties) and an ice cream van near the start/finish of the walk. There are also toilet facilities at this point.
Start Point and Time
Meet for 12.30 in the car park of the Clarence Hotel Greenfield (OL3 7DD) where the landlady has kindly given us permission to park (people can stop here for a drink at the end of the walk if they wish).
Directions to Start
From Mossley take the A635 (Manchester Road) to Greenfield. The Clarence is on the left at the junction with Chew Valley Road (A669). There is also a rail service to Greenfield Station, about 15 minutes walk from the Clarence.
