Walk leader : David Rhodes
Walk details : Edale and views of the plains of Kinder Scout –  This is a circular 7 mile challenging walk over rough terrain and boulders in places with amazing views of the Kinder Plain and surrounding hills.  There are steep parts so it’s not for people with vertigo. It is possible to bring your dog but be aware that you may have to carry it as you ascend or descend and please keep it on a lead if there is livestock around.
We start off by walking along a fairly quiet lane and then enter the trail which runs beside a brook for around a mile before we ascend to the ridge.  After this we carry on and climb up to Grinds brook Knoll 1971 ft where we may take our break.
Retracing our footsteps for a while we cross over the Grinds Brook and eventually walk past Ringing Roger 1800 ft (a striking rock formation) before heading on down with our descent to the starting point. We may stop on the way back at the Old Nags Head if this is the consensus.
There is a beer garden and the pub also serves food.
Risk assessment : A risk assessment was carried out on 25/08/2022.  A summary of identified risks is below:-
There is a minor road we have to walk up so please be aware of any cars etc. We climb down wooden steps to the a bridge we cross over the wooden bridge and then back up again so the steps could be slippery if wet. We walk along a brook over rough terrain for about 1 mile and we also have to cross boulders so please take extra care as these could be slippery. Sturdy walking boots and comfortable clothing should be worn. Please bring sun cream and a hat for sun protection. As we climb up the last section to the ridge we will have to use our hands to ease us up and the same will apply for going down later on. There may be plenty of other hikers on the trail so please give them space where the trail narrows.
Start time and meeting point : 12.30 On the side of the road just outside the Rambler Inn, Edale, S33 7ZA.  The Edale railway station is just around the corner a very short distance and the main Edale car park is also just over the road under the bridge.
