Walk leaders : David R
Grading of walk : Moderate
Walk details : A beautiful 7 mile walk. The rural serenity of Miller’s Dale belies its early role in the industrial revolution. The walk takes us from the Peak District town of Tideswell. We walk along the valley of Miller’s Dale and pass through two industrial settlements from the industrial revolution. Water Cum Jolley Dale and Arkwright’s Mill where child labour was used
Generally well defined paths alongside the River Wye where there are wild orchids and flowers. It is possible to spot kingfishers and other birds. We will stop near here for our lunch. Please bring sandwiches and drinks.
We leave the valley and ascend two fairly steep hills approximately a quarter of a mile each. The first climb is on a road and the second is on a rough rocky path which leads to the top of the hill. Here we can pause for another break and enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding area.
Eventually we pass through the village of Litton where we may stop for a drink at the pub.
