Fleetwood to Bispham

Walk details : Our walk from Fleetwood to Bispham in Blackpool, is an easy, flat walk of approximately 8 miles along the promenade. As this is a linear walk, we’ll meet in Bispham and get the tram to Fleetwood which is where we begin the walk, back to Bispham. There is plenty to see along the route – sculptures and stunning sea views towards Heysham, South Lakes and Barrow, visibility permitting. Dogs are welcome on this walk. The promenade path we’ll be using is popular with cyclists, joggers, families with pushchairs etc.
We will meet at the tram stop in Bispham at 11:30 to catch the tram to Fleetwood where we will start the walk. From Fleetwood we will walk along the promenade to Cleveleys where we will have a late lunch at Kay’s Chippy. From here we will continue walking back to Bispham. Please bring your own refreshments if you would prefer, but please be aware that the lunch stop is likely to be 45 minutes to 1 hour long.
There is an opportunity for an ice cream at Manfredi’s Ice cream parlour at the end of the walk.

Please be aware that there is little in the way of cover along the walk so please come prepared for all types of weather – rain, wind, sun and hot weather. Therefore, appropriate waterproof clothing, hat, sun lotion etc.
Start time and meeting point : We will meet at 11:30 at Bispham tram stop. Nearest postcode is FY2 9HP.
Directions to the start : By car – from central Manchester, allow approx. 1 hr for your journey. The M60/M61, M6 and M55 will take you to Blackpool and Bispham. If it’s nice weather, you might want to allow extra travel time in case of heavy traffic to Blackpool.
Parking: There is plenty of free on-street parking opposite the tram stop. The tram ticket to Fleetwood is £3.50 which is payable on the tram. Dogs are welcome on Blackpool trams.

Public transport : By train – there are trains from Manchester Oxford Road to Blackpool North: 9:05 arriving at 10:26. From here you could walk down to the meeting point or take a tram from the station direct to Fleetwood and the start of the walk. Please let the walk leaders know if you chose this option. Return times are: 16:51; 17:18; 17:37. Please check timetables if travelling by train.
