Walk leader : David R
Grading of walk : Easy
Walk details : Tatton Park has become the traditional closing walk of our annual programme, and this year is no exception. It is an easy six mile walk through parkland and along established pathways. We begin at the Knutsford Entrance following a route alongside Beech Wood; then head for the Mansion where we will have our lunch break in the stables courtyard. Please bring your own refreshments. There is a cafe at this point, though it is usually busy so expect queues. Our return route takes us along the eastern shore of Tatton Mere passing the location of the tree planted in memory of Derek Hurst. We will be able to see how well it has grown since our last visit.
The walk ends in Knutsford town centre where there are several pubs and cafes for post-walk refreshment.
We hope you will be able to join us.
Risk assessment : A risk assessment was carried out July 2024. A summary of identified risks is below:
Roads – There are roads within the park so please be aware of traffic and take care.
Terrain – While some of the paths are well made, much of our route is along uneven paths which may be very muddy, even boggy in places if there as been a lot of rain. So please bring suitable footwear.
Water – We will be walking alongside Tatton Mere during the walk so please be aware of this and take extra care.
Livestock – There are lots of deer in the park but the rutting season is over so there should be no problems, but please keep a safe distance and keep dogs on a lead when required.
The walk leader will hold a short safety briefing at the start and will remind walkers of any additional risk which may be encountered at appropriate points on the walk.
