Weekend away: Ilkley, West Yorkshire

This year’s Out on Sunday weekend away will be in Ilkley, West Yorkshire from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd September.
Ilkley is a popular destination for walkers and is particularly famous for its moorland, known as Ilkley Moor. That said, it is a lovely spa town which boasts good shopping, a plethora of cafes (including a Betty’s) and nightlife.
Cliff B. and Colin P. have travelled to Ilkley and have already booked a venue for the Saturday get-together meal, Bistrot Pierre. They have also identified a suitable pub for the Friday meet-up, The Black Hat. Two walks have been reconnoitred; an eight mile walk up onto Ilkley Moor for Saturday 21 September and a three to four mile walk for the following day along the River Wharfe taking in Mount Calvary and Middleton woods.
Walkers attending the Weekend Away can choose from a wide variety of accommodation from hotels to guest houses. Some suggestions of hotels are: Rooms by Bistrot Pierre, The Black Hat, The Craiglands, The Cow and Calf Inn, and The Riverside Hotel. We suggest that walkers view these venues for themselves online. A full itinerary for the Weekend Away will be published on the Group’s website nearer the September date. We will also provide details of the Group meal at the end of July or early August so that the booking can be finalised with the venue.
