Walk leader : Cliff and Colin

Description :  This week’s walk is a return visit to the delightful Cheshire village of Gawsworth – the first time of doing this walk in autumn.

We begin by walking past Gawsworth Hall and continue though farm land and country lanes until we reach the Macclesfield Canal. We then walk along the canal where we will take our lunch break before continuing along country lanes edged by woodland. We return to Gawsworth via farm land.

It is a fairly flat walk, and given the weather we’ve been having it’s likely boots or sturdy walking shoes will be required.

There are no pubs or tea shops on the route so please bring something to eat and drink for the refreshment stop. We will be going to the Harrington Arms at the end of the walk. The pub serves good food and drink.

The Harrington Arms is located on Church Lane. This is where the walk begins and there should be ample parking for all.

Start time and meeting point : The meet-up time is 12:00 in Church Lane between The Church of St James the Great and The Harrington Arms. Parking is along Church Lane.

Directions to start : Directions to Gawsworth. Use the postcode SK11 9RJ if using a Sat Nav. Otherwise Take junction M60 Junction 3 for the A34 towards Cheadle & Wilmslow. Take  the Handforth Bypass at the end of which look for signs for A536 Congleton Road, Gawsworth.  When approaching the entrance to Gawsworth Hall, Church Lane is off to the right. Follow the road round, past the two large pools, until you come to a straight tree-lined road where we will meet up. This is just before the Harrington Arms pub.
