Description of walk
This is an easy, mainly flat 5 mile walk. It starts at Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre (OL15 0AQ), and takes in part of the Rochdale Canal, as well as a section of the Lake itself. Some parts of the route may be muddy, so appropriate footwear is recommended. There will be a brief stop for lunch at a suitable halfway point. There is also a cafe at the Visitors Centre selling hot drinks and snacks to take away.
Start point and time
Visitor Centre (OL15 0AQ) at 12 noon.
Directions to start
Leave the M62 at J21 (Milnrow exit), from where Hollingworth Lake is signposted. Go past the shops on the left by the Lake, and turn right at the Wine Press Bistro (OL15 0AZ). The Visitors Centre and car parking areas are 100 yards on the left. I advise you to purchase your ticket at the machine before finding a parking space (£2 for 2-4 hours). There are also regular trains from Manchester Victoria to Littleborough Station (11.54 arrives 12.13). We will be passing the station en route, and if you come by train, you could join the walk there at about 12.20 pm (please phone me to let me know that you will be there)

Changes and cancellation
In the event that there are any changes to the regulations (for example a further lockdown) before the walk, which means that it will not be able to proceed, an email will be sent to everyone booked on the walk. Very occasionally, due to severe weather or another serious event, a walk may be cancelled. In these instances, a note will be added to the website at least TWO hours before Start Time. So, do check the website before you set out, and if in doubt use the walk leader’s mobile contact number.
COVID-19
Remember that social distancing applies throughout the walk, and bring face covering and hand sanitiser, just in case. If you are car-sharing or using public transport, follow the relevant rules and guidance.
