This week Patrick P and Douglas P led a super 5 mile walk along a glorious length of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to the Standedge tunnel – Britain’s longest and deepest canal tunnel.
On what turned out to be a rather warm day, the group progressed along this rather picturesque canal under the mottled shade of mature trees. These eventually gave way to more open countryside at the edge of the Pennines. Having reached the start of the tunnel the group made good use of the benches and took their refreshment stop before wishing Andy R a happy birthday with a spirited rendition of the traditional song.
The group then returned to the Kingfisher pub at the start of the walk for a final drink before making their way to their respective homes, but not before stopping at Grandpa Greene’s for a delicious ice cream
