Irwell and Kersal – 26 May 2024

Angel and Chris were our leaders today for this circular walk from Salford Museum to Kersal Moor, following the river Irwell.

Fourteen of us defied the storms threatened by the forecast. The weather was relatively nice, actually. We crossed the Kersal wetlands, an environmentally-protected area, and climbed to Kersal Moor, the highest altitude of Salford. The Moor is also protected. It is a historical site of Salford, where activities such as hangings and nude male racing used to happen.

We returned to Peel Park and finished the walk with a pint in The Old Pint Pot, on the shores of the Irwell.
