Irwell to Kersal circular – 23 February 2025

The walk from Peel Park to Kersal Moor was braved by 12 walkers… I say braved because the weather forecast had only just been downgraded from ‘risk to life’ to ‘horrible’! In fact there was a bit of wind and a refreshing spray of rain but that was it! On the way, older and newer members got a chance to bond, and we had a small drama when the beautiful Shadow basically mugged another dog! But we let him off because he was so well behaved otherwise! Though our guides knew a little bit of the area’s history, we were given a little more by Gavin and Linda. We finished at Peel Park (claiming to be the world’s first public park). In the end, some of us staggered into the museum cafe at the end, all smiles, to enjoy coffee, cake and strangely bland ginger beer!
