Lytham St. Annes – 27 April 2025

The weather could not have been better for the group’s Lytham to St Anne’s walk yesterday: A gentle breeze and a blue sky flecked with feathery clouds. Seventeen walkers met at the old windmill at Lytham and at 12:10 we began our stately progress along the promenade following the course of the River Ribble estuary. At Fairhaven the promenade gives way to a wide sandy and shingle path and here the river meets the sea. Houses of well-heeled residents line the route just peeking over low-lying sand dunes. At St Anne’s we took the path leading from a family friendly beach and we joined another promenade which led the group to some park benches where we had our refreshment stop. At this point two members of the group and their guests left us… because they’re lucky to live close! Consequently only thirteen walkers made the return journey. Back at Lytham we said good bye to five walkers and the remaining six made a bee-line to an excellent local chip shop. Thus ended an excellent day!
