Description
A fairly easy 7 mile walk in Moses Gate Country Park along historic canal towpaths and through countryside. The canal is being restored by volunteers and has a colourful ‘Meccano’ bridge! From my recent recce I have discovered a new more comfortable and exciting route. This will take us through an enchanted emerald forest where all the trees are covered in moss and you might expect to chance upon a fairy or nymph!
Later we will pass the Horseshoe Pub which is now doing food again at very reasonable prices and quite a good menu selection. We can stop here if we so wish to but please bring your own sandwiches if you prefer which can be eaten at an earlier stopping point. Walking boots are recommended as the paths tend to be very muddy.

Starting Point and Time
We start the walk from Moses Gate Country Park car park, which is free. Aim to park towards the bottom end of the car park where we shall meet at 12.00pm.

Directions to Start
Leave the A666 at the Farnworth turn off.  Drive through Farnworth on Bolton Road until you get to the A666 again where just before there are traffic lights.  Turn right on Loxham Road and after a few hundred yards turn right again into Hall Lane which leads to the bottom end of the car park of the country park, where we will meet.  Postcode for the park is BL4 7QS.
