Description

This walk begins and ends at the delightful Cheshire village of Gawsworth. We will walk past Gawsworth Hall and continue through farm land and country lanes until we reach the Macclesfield Canal. We then walk along the canal where we will take our lunch break before continuing along country lanes edged by woodland. We return to Gawsworth via farm land.

It is a fairly flat walk but it will be muddy in places so walking boots are needed. If you are bringing your dog please be aware that we will be walking through fields where there are sheep with lambs and we will be passing through a private fishing club’s grounds.

There are no pubs or tea shops on the route so please bring something to eat and drink for the lunch stop. We will be going to the Harrington Arms at the end of the walk. The pub serves good food and drink. Alternatively, Gawsworth Hall has a very nice tea room which may be open.

The Harrington Arms is located on Church Lane. This is where the walk begins and there should be ample parking for all.

Start Point and Time

The meet-up time is 12:00 noon in Church Lane between The Church of St James the Great and The Harrington Arms. Parking is along Church Lane.
