Description
Largely an easy flat walk about 10.7km / 6.6miles with most paths surfaced. A small section is earth footpath which can get muddy.
The walk has four parts and is a demonstration as to the work done reclaiming waste and industrial spoil land back for nature:
• Risley Moss is original untouched moss land and peat bog, now a nature reserve.
• Birchwood Forest Park formerly occupied by the Royal Ordnance Factory
• Gorse Covert reserve links the Forest Park with
• A new and unnamed nature reserve which was the main dump for Warrington is south of Culcheth which I discovered by accident. Bring binoculars: you may see the pair of nesting buzzards which have taken residence.
Unfortunately, no cafe/pub points so bring you own refreshments.
Start Point and Time
