Description
For this week’s walk we offer an easy six mile walk along the Trent and Mersey and Macclesfield canals, part of the Cheshire Ring. The walk offers some lovely views of the south Cheshire countryside. We will make two stops as we make our stately progress: The first stop will be at the Red Bull public house where walkers can partake in a libation of their choice and the second stop will be at the point where the two canals join. Here walkers can have their packed lunches if they have them.
After lunch, we will walk along the Macclesfield Canal until we reach Hall Green. Here we leave the canal and make our return to the starting point via gently undulating fields and woodland.
This is an easy walk, suitable for all. There are some gentle slopes but nothing too daunting – “promise”
Start Point and Time
The meet-up time is 12:30.
The meeting point is on Old Knutsford Road, just south of Rode Heath.
Directions to Start
To get to the start point you will need to take the A50 to Rode Heath. Just south of Rode Heath, about 250 yards south of its junction with the A533 Sandbach Road (150 yards south of Cherry Lane) you will need to turn left into the narrow Old Knutsford Road where you can park. Please park on the left-hand side, just past the houses.
