Out on Sunday logo

Hello everyone – here’s a brief update to keep everyone informed about what’s going on and what’s coming up this summer:

We ended 2022 with our customary festive meal at the Cosy Club in Manchester – we’ve visited here several times and we always get a great welcome form the team there. This time there were 38 Out on Sunday revellers including several who were attending for the first time.  Some great photos from this memorable afternoon here – have a look!

In January we held our second Annual General Meeting, 18 members attended and we were able to agree the walks programme for the year and the location of this year’s weekend away aswell as dealing with the usual AGM  business – The (draft) minutes of the meeting together with the Annual report and Treasurer’s Report are available on the website here.  After the meeting there was an opportunity to socialise with some food and a couple of drinks. Once again we are very grateful to The Holiday Inn, Manchester City Centre for providing the meeting room for us.

Walks programme : We have made a good start to 2023 having completed 11 walks to date (end of April), with walks taking place every two weeks from January until the end of March.  From April we have a walk scheduled almost every Sunday except Easter Sunday and Pride weekend Sunday in August.   Many thanks to all our walk leaders for coming forward to lead walks, your contribution to Out on Sunday is much appreciated.  We still have a couple of gaps in the calendar, so if you have never led a walk before and would Iike to, we can offer support in choosing a walk, reccing the walk and writing up the details. And, we will, of course, support you on the day. If you would like to support Out on Sunday by leading a walk, please speak to Colin either in person or via the WhatsApp group (or email general@outonsunday.co.uk).  Please be aware that the walks calendar changes from time to time, so it’s always a good idea to check the calendar on the website here for the most up to date version.  Looking forward to seeing you on a walk soon.

Membership : Welcome to all our lovely new members – We have had 8 new walkers with the group so far this year and we are delighted that at least 4 of them have decided to join – We hope that they will all enjoy many years of walking and friendship with Out on Sunday!

Kendal save the datesOut on Sunday weekend away : 15–17 September 2023

Over 30 of us got together last year for a great weekend at Llangollen , this year we’re heading up the M6 to Kendal in the beautiful South Lakes.  Dave H, Patrick and Alan have recently visited to do a recce and warn the locals – there is some preliminary information here and there will be more detailed information nearer the time. For now though, it would be very helpful if the organisers could have some idea of numbers (particularly for the group meal on Saturday evening) so if you could spare a minute to let us know (using the same Jotform as above) whether you hope to be joining in the group meal on Saturday 16 September it would be greatly appreciated. This isn’t final – no commitment at this stage! The Jotform is here
