Walk Leaders

Cliff & Colin

Description

In a change to the walk listed on the published schedule, we offer an easy to moderate 5 mile walk beginning and ending at Quarry Bank Mill carpark.

This is a lovely walk which has the group ambling through the delightful autumnal woods of Styal Country Park, adjacent to the babbling river Bollin.  This is followed by a short section of farm land and an equally short section of suburban road before we re-enter the county park.

The walk follows well established and well used paths for the most part. These can be muddy and therefore we recommend you wear stout footwear. There are two or three steep climbs en route, which we climb and descend using purpose built steps.

We don’t propose having a long refreshment stop half way through the walk. Instead we suggest a shorter break for drinks etc. Rather than taking the normal break we suggest making use of the National Trust cafe at Quarry Bank Mill at the end of the walk.

Start time and meeting point

Now we are in the season of shorter days, we have scheduled the walk to start at 12:00 pm. The meeting point will be outside the visitors centre adjacent to the carpark at Quarry Bank Mill. This is a National Trust carpark which is free to use.
