Walk Description
This is a 6 mile circular walk, which takes in part of the Rochdale Canal and Tandle Hill Country Park. It is a pleasant scenic walk, especially at this time of year. It is mainly flat, on good paths, but with a couple of steep ascents. It may be muddy in places after all the recent rain, so it is advisable to wear sturdy, waterproof shoes. There will be a short stop for lunch at the Country Park War Memorial. You will need to bring your own refreshments.

Start point and time
Meet for 12:30 at the front of Mills Hill Station (M24 2EH).

Directions to start
Mills Hill Station is on the A669, Oldham Rd, half way between Middleton and Chadderton town centres. It can be reached via the M60, Junction 19, (leave the M62 at J18 if taking that route) then follow Manchester Old Rd (A576) through Middleton towards Oldham on the A669. Park on Oldham Rd near to the station or on Middleton Rd (A669) just past the station through the 2nd set of lights.
You can also take the train from Victoria Station to Mills Hill (free for pass holders, £5.50 off peak return for others). The 12:02 would get you to Mills Hill at 12:13, with a return train at 16:11.

Changes and cancellation
In the event that there are any changes to the regulations (for example a further lockdown) before the walk meaning that the walk will not be able to proceed, an email will be sent to everyone booked on the walk.
Very occasionally, due to severe weather or another serious event, a walk may be cancelled. In these instances, a note will be added to the website at least TWO hours before Start Time. So, do check the website before you set out, and if in doubt use the walk leader’s mobile contact number.
