Description :  A 6.5 mile circuit starting in Tottington, taking in Island Lodge, the wooded Kirklees valley and nature reserve, the Irwell gorge and Summerseat where we may see steamtrains on the East Lancs railway.  There is then a short climb through woods to Holcombe Brook and through part of Redisher Woods reserve. We then head over fields to Holly Mount, two Brooks valley and Bottoms Hall.

It is easy walking on tracks, roads (briefly) and some fields which are likely to be muddy.
Bring a packed lunch. (There is a Co-op store at the start)
At the end there are several eating/refreshment possibilities. For drinks the atmospheric Old Dungeon pub is probably the best bet (dogs allowed).

Start Point and Time :  12.30 Tottington village car park behind the Co-op. Watch out for Pelican crossing ahead and turn right at side of the Robin hood pub after passing a row of shops on left.  Free parking on the left.
