Description
A 6 mile walk from Whaley Bridge station out to Fernilee Reservoir and returning on the other side of the river Goyt. There is a great variety of beautiful landscape through woods, besides the river, across meadows, and finally up to the reservoir. The walk traverses through the lovely village of Taxal and then on through the nature reserve of Hillsbridge Wood, and on through Knipe. A stop for lunch is included at the head of the reservoir with views across the valley.
Some very moderate ascents as we rise up to the reservoir (about 500 ft. in total) though no serious hill climbing involved. There will be a pub stop, for those interested, at the end of the walk at The Cock Inn.
Walking boots/shoes recommended, may be muddy in parts. Bring packed lunch as no cafes/shops en route.
