Description

A lovely varied 5 mile circuit with stunning views of Pendle Hill, the Ribble Valley, the Bowland Fells, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and Blackpool Tower (on a good day!) With woodland  and Dean Clough there should be some wildlife too. (2 deer on our recent visit)

The route is on minor roads, tracks and footpaths with 2 short steep hills and 1 longer climb; also  a few stiles.
The Lord Nelson pub in the hamlet of York opens at midday and is said to do good bacon butties and coffee: no refreshments en route.

Start point and time

Meet at 12.30 outside the Lord Nelson pub in hamlet of York. GR711 336     Postcode  BB6 8DU
Roadside parking limited near pub and in the hamlet itself (please park with consideration)
However beyond the speed limit signs there is plenty of space.

Directions to start

The shortest, slightly more complicated but prettier route is to leave the M65 at J7 and head for Rishton. At traffic lights just before the church turn right on B6535. Turn left after 1 mile on a sharp RH bend onto Wilpshire Rd. Turn right at Spice Lounge. After 1/4 mile take right fork.
Alternatively head 5 miles west from Whalley on the A666 and in the centre of Langho turn left uphill for 1/2 mile to York.

Changes and cancellation
In the event that there are any changes to the regulations (for example a further lockdown) before the walk, which means that it will not be able to proceed, an email will be sent to everyone booked on the walk. Very occasionally, due to severe weather or another serious event, a walk may be cancelled. In these instances, a note will be added to the website at least TWO hours before Start Time. So, do check the website before you set out, and if in doubt use the walk leader’s mobile contact number
