This walk will now start at 12:15. Patrick
Walk leader : Patrick P
Grading of walk : Easy
Walk details : This is a relatively easy, 4 mile, circular walk that takes in part of Marple Bridge, the Roman Lakes and a section of the Upper High Peak Canal. While most of the walk is flat and on established tracks, there are a couple of steady inclines to negotiate. There may be occasional muddy stretches if it has been wet, so appropriate footwear is recommended. There will be a short stop for lunch by the River Goyt just after the Roman Lakes. There is a pub at the end of the walk if anyone wants suitable refreshment.
Risk assessment : A risk assessment was carried out 29/09/2024. A summary of identified risks is below:
We will be walking alongside a main road at the start and finish of the walk, and on country lanes which may have occasional traffic. The paths are good, but there are occasional rocky sections. We will be walking on a Canal towpath towards the end of the walk, so take care near the water. We cross an old pack horse bridge, which also requires care. This is a dog friendly walk, with no livestock nearby
Start time and meeting point : Meet at 12:15 at the free car park on the right just below Marple Station.
