Walk details : This is an easy 5 1/2 mile walk along a well maintained canal towpath. The walk begins at the RHS Bridgewater car park, from there we make our way to the canal path and then a 2 1/2 mile walk along the path to the The Old Boat House pub. where we can use the outdoor facilities to have lunch. Although we can bring our own food there is an expectation that we purchase a drink from the bar. After this we retrace our steps back to the start point. In addition to our lunch stop we will also be making a second stop for refreshments at The Moorings pub half a mile away from the car park. This is a fully accessible walk suitable for a mobility scooter.

As we will be walking by the canal, care needs to be taken. The paths are well maintained and fairly wide.
Start time and meeting point : 12:00 at the bottom end of the RHS Bridgewater car park.
Directions to the start : From the M60 leave the motorway at junction 13 for the A575/A572 exit to Worsley/Leigh/Swinton, then follow signs to A572 Leigh Road.

Public transport : The number 35 bus from Piccadilly Gardens to Leigh stops on Leigh Rd at the entrance to the gardens. This is an half hourly service leaving Piccadilly Gardens at 27 & 57 minutes past the hour. Allow 1 hour for the journey. The return times from the stop at the RHS Bridgewater entrance are on the hour & half past the hour. If you are planning to travel by bus, please check timetables.
